Last weekend, Limphini Park in Bangkok had its annual Street Show – a 15:00 Saturday to 21:00 Sunday family affair where ten parts of the park are set up as stations for a plethora of street amusements – from plays to music; from tricks to jugglers…there is plenty for all, each act taking 20-30mins. Crowds gather at these stations, some people targeting events that are helpfully listed on large billboards in the Park, others (like The Diplomat, Isla and I) moving from venue to venue, either pausing to watch the show or skipping onto another.
The venue is different in the light of the afternoon compared to the neon glitter at dusk; the common themes are family fun, amusement, wonder, “oooh”s and “aaah”s, from the expectant crowds; tolerable mistakes and breathtaking skills from the performers.
Here’s some photos of the event:
Aside from that there’s not much else to say. Definitely worth a visit in years to come…here’s a clip of one of my favourite acts – the Juggler Brothers
Is this what diplomacy is all about?
